Special Spaces Leadership

& Service Program

The Special Spaces Leadership and Service Program will enlighten, encourage, educate and motivate young adults about the issues facing the nonprofit sector.  The program will encourage students to volunteer in their communities, it will educate them on leadership in the nonprofit sector, it will enlighten the students on the issues facing a child and family dealing with a serious illness, and it will motivate them to continue on a life long journey in community leadership.  The student’s journey will be carefully monitored by the Special Spaces Executive Director and Board of Directors.  These teams will coordinate a room makeover, interview the child and family, raise funds, design marketing materials and strategies, design and implement a Special Spaces room makeover for a child in their community facing a life threatening illness.  An award ceremony at the culmination of the project will recognize all participants in different categories.  Please contact the corporate office for more details.  jennifer@specialspaces.org

 Knoxville Catholic High School

Megan, Dorian and Morgan helped create a dream space for Miss Isabelle.  They were an awesome group to work with and I wish them the best!

Meet Tori Sanchez- Santa Rosa, California

Leadership Program 2009/2010

I am Torri Saiz, I am seventeen years old, a senior at Ursuline High School in Santa Rosa, CA. Ursuline is a private all girl catholic school, and throughout our four years we are expected to expand our Catholic education by completing service hours, in our senior year we are to complete service hours but go beyond volunteering, the program is called CBSL, Community Based Service Learning. For my senior service project I have chosen to work with special spaces.

I got into contact with Special Spaces when my Aunt and Uncle attended a fundraiser on vacation in Knoxville. Upon their return they told me all about it, and I immediately got into contact with Jennifer. I’m really excited to begin my work with special spaces; I am starting to see it unfold. I have worked with a local charity here that serves terminally ill children but its nothing like this. Special Spaces provides a unique opportunity for us volunteers to really make a difference in a child’s life.
